THE PHILLIP PROJECT

is a collaboration between choreographer Michael Jahoda, video artist Pasi Granqvist, composer/musicians Paul van Mook and Mark Drillich and lighting designer Minna Tiikkainen.

The Phillip Project is committed to creating interactive multi-media environments that dissolve the divide between performer and public and to fusing their diverse mediums into a unique form of communication that erases the boundaries of theater and the fine arts.

who is phillip?
Phillip is a character created from a series of questions. He is a complex but average man that represents one man’s quest to define his own freedom. Phillip is here, there, and everywhere in the work of The Phillip Project.

Phillip is a super-hero of sorts. He has been portrayed as jewel-like images tucked into corners and as large color saturated images spun around like an explosion. He can fly over head. He has been a one-man disco extravaganza in the smallest club in the world. He has been heard as layers of sound swept through space, and as minute sounds that ask for an intimate listening. Phillip is sometimes lost, sometimes angry and sometimes laughing his ass off.
